Following a brief conversation with Robin, I went to visit Yun Shen. Because I feel that Alex has not been rational about responding to Yun Shen's concerns on the general forum. And, since Yun Shen is an active neighbour, I have wondered if he might join our board.
I saw the patch on the ceiling and it looks and feels completely dry. I agree with Tony that my best guess would be that it is previous damp damage showing through the paint. But YS is still concerned. He tells me that when they removed his ceiling some years ago, that he could see a hole in the concrete roof. That hole is now covered with membrane, but YS tried to explain the geometry of the roof to me, and tried to explain that if there is a tiny leak, then the fall on the roof will carry the water to the point on his ceiling that he is concerned about.
I find YS difficult to communicate with, only partly because of his strong accent, and, probably, my strong accent.
I left it that I would try to borrow a damp meter and return and demonstrate to him that he ceiling is dry. @Tony Bath - does David have a two-pronged contact damp meter which I could borrow please?
